Who We Are at Leon Limousins

 Leon Limousins was established in 1988 by John and Karol Wilkes who live at Pittsworth, Queensland.

Quality animals were purchased from many studs on the east coast of Australia including Lanacoora, Marcheky, Rosehill, Timor, Donna Valley, Ulster, Flemington, Red Rock, Ro-Maree, Benjarra, and Oakwood. With this diversity of genetics, we have been able to breed quality females and bulls for our 150 pure breed herd.

 We have supported many Queensland Limousin Youth Camps by suppling quiet cattle for youth leaders. For many years we have won the Millmerran Show Prime Cattle Grand Champion Steer Competition, along with the Most Successful Exhibitor Prize. In Toowoomba, at an Ag Show Sale, we sold a top priced bull.

Another accomplishment was winning the Most Outstanding MSA Beef Producer Band 2 Queensland for 2021.

 Our cattle including steers, heifers and cows, regularly top the cattle sales in Dalby. Our business focus is on breeding top quality heifers and steers for the export market.

In 2020 we opted out of the Limousin Society to concentrate on breeding growthy, fleshy, quiet, poll, commercial animals by using a variety of our own breed bulls. We run two herds. All apricot cows are mated to apricot bulls and our small black herd is mated to black bulls (Red Rock Greedy and Little Rock Moonshine.)

Each year we carefully select 10 to 15 quiet, fleshy, correct conformation commercial bulls for private sale.

Sires in use at Leon are sires out of Ulster Keith, Timor Poll Dynamic, Flemington Lotto (a Limousin National Show and Sale senior champion) Benjarra Smash and Grab, Red Rock Jock N205 and Oakwood Tank.
